Google Drive is where your team’s written knowledge accumulates — strategy documents, meeting writeups, project briefs, and more. When you connect Google Drive to Hyper, it indexes your Google Docs so that any AI agent can retrieve the right document at the right time, pulling full content rather than just filenames. Hyper tracks document changes incrementally, so your memory layer reflects the latest version of every doc without requiring manual refreshes.

Connect Google Drive

1

Open Settings in the Hyper desktop app

Launch the Hyper desktop app and click Settings in the navigation, then select Connections.
2

Click Connect next to Google Drive

Find Google Drive in the list of available integrations and click Connect.
3

Authorize with Google OAuth 2.0

A Google sign-in window opens. Sign in with the Google account whose Drive you want to connect, then grant Hyper the requested permissions. Hyper uses standard Google OAuth 2.0 — your Google password is never stored by Hyper.
4

Wait for the initial sync to complete

Hyper begins indexing your Google Docs immediately. The initial sync duration depends on how many documents are in your Drive. Monitor progress in Settings → Connections.

What Hyper Syncs

Hyper currently indexes Google Docs only. Sheets, Slides, PDFs, and other file types are not ingested in this version.
What’s syncedDetails
Google DocsFull document text content
File scopeGoogle Docs format only (not Sheets, Slides, or uploaded files)
Change trackingIncremental updates filtered by modifiedTime — only changed docs are re-indexed
Source linksEach document links back to https://docs.google.com/document/d/{id}/edit
Hyper reads document content only — it never edits, deletes, moves, or creates files in your Google Drive.
Keep your most important documents as Google Docs (rather than uploaded Word files) to ensure they’re picked up by Hyper’s sync.

Search Your Docs with AI Agents

Once your Drive is indexed, your AI agents can find and read documents using full-text search or by referencing a specific document ID. Example agent queries:
Find the Google Doc about our Q4 go-to-market strategy
Search Drive for documents mentioning "API rate limits"
Read the product requirements doc for the mobile app redesign
Show me documents updated this week about onboarding
Agents can retrieve the complete text content of any specific document by its ID, giving them full context to answer detailed questions or summarize long documents. What agents can do:
ActionDescription
Full-text searchSearch across all indexed doc content by keyword or phrase
Read by IDFetch the complete content of a specific document
Recency filteringNarrow results to recently modified documents

Reconnect Google Drive

If your Google OAuth token expires, Hyper will show a Reconnect prompt next to Google Drive in Settings → Connections.
1

Go to Settings → Connections

Open the Hyper desktop app and navigate to Settings → Connections.
2

Click Reconnect next to Google Drive

Click the Reconnect button. A Google sign-in window opens.
3

Re-authorize with Google

Complete the OAuth flow. Your previously indexed documents are preserved — Hyper resumes incremental sync from where it left off.
Reconnecting restores the sync pipeline without wiping your existing indexed data. Hyper will only re-fetch documents that changed while the connection was inactive.

Disconnect Google Drive

To remove Google Drive from Hyper, go to Settings → Connections, find Google Drive, and click Disconnect. This revokes Hyper’s access token and stops future syncing. Previously indexed document content will be removed from your memory layer.
Disconnecting Google Drive removes all synced document data from Hyper’s memory layer. If you reconnect later, Hyper will perform a fresh initial sync of your Google Docs.
